Efficient Edge Trim Extraction and Disposal
Comexi Chooses Schuh’s Innovative Technology for Buergofol
Barcelona / Siegenburg – September 2024
For the upcoming capacity expansion at Buergofol’s Siegenburg plant, Comexi has opted for Schuh Anlagentechnik GmbH’s modular edge trim extraction and disposal system. This advanced solution optimizes the shredding, material separation, and air filtration of edge trims—a crucial step toward sustainable and efficient production.
Precision and Efficiency with Customized Edge Trim Extraction Technology
Schuh Anlagentechnik’s edge trim disposal system is a modular solution designed for shredding edge trims from APET and various flexible films, followed by material separation and air filtration. The scope of supply includes planning and delivery of all mechanical components for edge trim extraction.
The continuous edge trims are captured at the slitter rewinder. Depending on the material type, shredding is performed either in a Schuh shredding fan or in the Schuh TRC 150 cutting device, handling material speeds up to 600 m/min and edge trim widths from 10 mm to 50 mm. Separation of transport air and material is achieved in the Schuh centrifugal separator. Dust-laden exhaust air is cleaned after the riser pipe, and the separated material is collected in a Big Bag. The project includes planning, delivery, and shipping, with the edge trim extraction system scheduled for delivery by the end of 2024. After pre-assembly in Barcelona, the complete system will be installed at the Siegenburg production site in mid-2025.
