Successful Performance Test of Pilot Project at TRIMET Aluminium SE
Essen, July 2014
After a performance test of 6 weeks, the commissioning of the exhaust duct of the cooling system for kilns at Trimet Aluminium SE could be finished successfully in July 2014.
To increase the flexibility of the energy input for the fused-salt electrolysis, Trimet Aluminium SE decided in favour of Schuh Anlagentechnik GmbH at the beginning of this year.
The project includes engineering, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning of the exhaust duct of the cooling system for kilns. It allows the flexible cooling and heat isolation of the electrolytic furnace due to 528 heat exchangers. The objective is to use this system as virtual battery and energy storage for the integration of volatile renewable energy sources into the German electricity network.
